CIS of Texas

Our Mission

The Mission of Communities In Schools is to surround students with a community of support, empowering them to stay in school and achieve in life.

Who We Are

Communities In Schools of Texas is a statewide network of passionate professionals working in public schools to surround students with a community of support, empowering them to stay in school and achieve in life.

Administered by the Texas Education Agency, CIS of Texas is an exemplary stay in school program funded by the Texas Legislature since 1989. CIS is the largest dropout prevention program in the state. Local CIS programs are 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations established to support schools by working with at-risk students in order to decrease the dropout rate. Every year, thousands of students who would have otherwise dropped out, stay in school because of the efforts of CIS.
