CIS of Texas

Our Mission

The Mission of Communities In Schools is to surround students with a community of support, empowering them to stay in school and achieve in life.

What We Do

Communities In Schools works within the Texas public school system, determining student needs and establishing relationships with local businesses, social service agencies, health care providers, and parent and volunteer organizations to provide needed resources.

CIS helps students improve in academics, attendance and/or behavior, encouraging more students to stay in school, graduate and prepare for post-secondary life. CIS provides services and resources through community partnerships to ensure a comprehensive case-management approach to meet the needs of students.

CIS Model

CIS Works

CIS helps students address many issues or challenges that can prevent them from graduating and pursuing post-secondary goals. CIS takes a holistic approach to help students succeed by addressing their physical, emotional, and academic needs though a wide range of services. CIS provides access to these services for thousands of youth and their families each year. Additionally, each campus served by CIS has a case manager to ensure services are fully and effectively delivered. CIS gives students the opportunity for success by providing specific services such as:
  • Tutoring
  • Mentoring
  • Supportive guidance
  • College readiness
  • Career preparation
  • Support services for students and parents
  • Health and human services support
  • After school activities and enrichment
